I don’t know how true it is these days in the States, but when my folks lived there in the Nineties, they used to say that if they wanted a guaranteed good cup of just black coffee, no matter what State they were travelling through, Maccy D’s of all places served the best.
They wouldn’t order anything else, but knew they could get a reliable cup of Joe.
Is that still the case?
Or indeed, was it ever the case, or do my parents just have really bad taste in coffee?
I’m a tea drinker; I used to drink instant coffee with sugar until I gave up smoking, when I found I was drinking too much of it to compensate, so I stopped.
So my experience of “decent” coffee is extremely limited, and I never got used to drinking it without sugar.
