perhaps if a spokesmodel for one company wanted to become the spokesmodel for their primary competitor, such that the company could claim significant brand damage just due to a highly-public employee switching to the competition or something

Actors have contracts for that purpose. They are paid to represent their employer for a period of time and if their employer wants them to take gardening leave then they have to pay for that.
