My wife ran Medicaid mental health clinics in Manhattan & Brooklyn for over a decade, mostly really low functioning people. She said the NYPD responds to thousands of “disturbed individual” calls every day, and handles them professionally without hurting anyone. Sometimes the tragedy is all in the numbers, like miles driven before an accident. How many thousands of incidents before someone makes a bad judgement call or simply screws up?
