It’s not a hard job.
Get the proper tools and learn to do it right.
Help out friends/family/neighbors and share the knowledge!

C’mon boingboing, you makers are smarter than this.
Sometimes shortcuts/inferior tools have a place.
This isn’t one of those times.

I’m an ex tally boner and work in a professional kitchen.
Anyone who advises against a stone (or grinder if you must take off some shoulder first) is only exposing their ignorance about knife sharpening. Don’t listen to 'em.
