Jane Goodall says she believes in the afterlife because of "experiences I've had"

So it’s great for the old hillbilly and Rip, but perhaps not so good for the raccoons there? (There’s a raccoon hunt scheduled for the night Hyder arrives.) Perhaps that’s Raccoon Hell? Or maybe they’re virtual raccoons?

I’m not putting down your concept, by the way, I agree with you and the main character: “Any place that’s too high-falutin’ for Rip is too fancy for me.” I just always consider a bit that one being’s version of heaven is another’s version of hell. I’m an atheist, so whatever concept of heaven or hell I hold is purely hypothetical for me, but when I do consider such places, lack of my pets (and partners) would certainly be a deciding factor for which is which.
