A bit off topic, but here in Japan where it seems every automated device must talk at you (self service gasoline pumps, ATMs, elevators, car navigation systems, refrigerators, etc) the default voice, or in some cases the only voice, is female using a fixed level of politeness found in Japanese that doesn’t map to English.
