Leaked Chinese database of 1.8 million women includes a field indicating whether they are "BreedReady"

Well, that’s what happens when you start legally ‘capping’ the amount of babies people can have.

Less babies = less young people.

Yeah, I know. What can I say, I was deluding myself into thinking we were going to evolve past that point. Apparently not.

In the photo included with the article, it looks like the database is peeling photos off FaceBook (the fbcdn address).

Invitro is a rich-people option. I think we both know what the horror show of “other measures” in the lower classes was.

Population aside, they now have a cohort of males finding it tough to find a mate. In a perfect world, this would shift power to the females, allowing them to be choosy. Meh…

Maybe, like Facebook, this started as some nerd’s dating app?

This sounds like the kind of data an occupying force of aliens would maintain to track who is due for a trip to the gestation facility.

The “BreedReady” bit is pretty bad, yeah.

I’m also really pissed that they have five different fields, OperationTime, Year, Month, Day, and Hour, that all represent the same piece of underlying data.

Normalize your data, you schmucks.

Edit: they’re also tracking both Age and BirthDay independently, geez, it’s like amateur hour.

In this imperfect world, War Plague and Famine are the usual suspects.

Cultural acceptance of male homosexuality is also a possibility, but I’m afraid that’s another Perfect World fantasy.

China’s population is set to hit 1.4bn in 2029, then an “unstoppable decline” begins, falling to 1.2bn by 2065. May not sound like a big fall, but them’s 200m will be missing workers.

And all that is at current fertility rates, which in actual fact are declining. Like all populations, a bit of wealth, and people reproduce less.

Does it matter? “From a theoretical point of view, the long-term population decline, especially when it is accompanied by a continuously aging population, is bound to cause very unfavorable social and economic consequences,”

If I were China, I’d be wetting my bed and crying every night.

Hence the lean towards woman capture and baby farms. It’s hard to run a nation properly.

Did facebook sell them this data?

China basically saw the effects of the Baby Boom in the US and said “Yes, lets do that, but even harder!” They’ve got an enormous population bomb set to go off as their workforce ages and starts to retire. It will make the Social Security deficit in the US look like small potatoes.

As a perfectionist always seeking to improve my processes, I share your frustration.

However, the last thing I want is for them to improve their processes, or – if I’m being honest – their security. So much fuckery occurs behind closed doors, it’s important that they be opened from time to time to let some light in.

So… how do I access this dating app?

Apparently by SQL injection?

Where is the involuntary organ donor field?

Oh man, just wait 'til you see some of the DB field names on the shit they’re capturing.

What’s the big deal? I use that term, and similar ones, all the time.

Like when I go to a club, my favorite pickup line is asking if they are BreedReady.

When I am at the bakery I ask if they are BreadReady.

I like it when my books are ReadReady.

When I have to take blood tests, I make sure to tell them I am BleedReady.

I am so glad for spring, the ground is just about SeedReady.

When I pick up my MP3 player, it should be CreedReady.

That last one is a joke, I don’t listen to Creed.

Yeah suddenly porn and swingers parties practised with wild abandon are going to be A-OK with the communist party.

Ppl, if you want more sex than you can handle, head to China!!

This is driving the Chinese land-grab in Africa, it’s driving the Uighur lock-up, it’s got to be paralysing fear. Make a fortune now and if they’re lucky, feed the population later.

But they’re not really likely to be lucky, are they?! The Party will simply leave them unmedicated, unfed, unsheltered. Having broken the filial piety relationship, the wealthy new young will techtonically shift away from supporting elderly relatives, and as people age, they will simply never exit the poverty they had hoped to leave behind.

Chairman Mao would simply say “we must pass through this”.
