Counterintuitively, a craft built to operate in the vacuum of space doesn’t have to be engineered to tolerate cold as well as something engineered to operate in arctic conditions because you don’t have to worry about conduction or convection in a vacuum. You’re actually more likely to have a problem getting rid of waste heat, which is why the ISS needs all those huge radiator arrays.
