Early scientist pulled the same crap with cat’s and dogs. Even today, you can find people hacking up animals and saying “They don’t feel anything” or “It’s just reflexes.” Pain exists for a reason: It keeps us from harming ourselves. If these geniuses believed certain animals couldn’t register pain, how did they figure the animal could live it’s life without doing itself in earlier, magic?
