Yeah, there’s little doubt this guy has been abusing children frequently and for the entirety of his career. These aren’t isolated incidents. When your only tool is a hammer, etc. etc.
Heck, I went to a regular public school in the 70s/80s where corporal punishment was the norm. It was usually just straight up assault committed against students, and for the most part the parents didn’t care because “my kid’s a jerk and probably deserved it.” I remember seeing a 4th grader get paddled for getting out of his seat during lunch without permission (yes, the offenses were completely arbitrary and often minor), and the kid limped for at least the rest of the day.
The only respite was, once and a while, some teacher would get it in their head to paddle a 17-year-old almost-man who played football or baseball, and the student would explain how hard they planned to hit the teacher afterwards (or just do it). That would usually put a pause in the proceedings.
