The MAGAts and Xtianists would love to bring corporal punishment – especially the arbitrary kind that “somehow” ends up targeting minorities – back to American schools. It’s one of the reasons that Project 2025 talks about abolishing the federal Dept. of Education. As with abortion, they’ll take their usual “let the states decide” approach to permitting institutional child abuse.

My late stepfather famously turned the tables on his miserable petty tyrant of a teacher in class and mid-punishment when he was around that age. It remained one of the most satisfying moments in that accomplished man’s life.
