Point of order: the original “twinkie defense” cited health-food-nut Dan White’s newfound love of junk food as evidence that White had been experiencing a mental breakdown (and thus was not responsible for his actions), but did not cite junk food as the cause of said breakdown. Less “the twinkies made me crazy!” than “would a sane man eat twinkies??”
Which was of course still a pretty weak-ass defense.
