Your explanation sadly sounds intensely plausible to me. Why is this doofus planting a flag AT a hurricane? Because he believes liberals are controlling it and he’s showing his defiance to this non-existent cabal of leftist supervillains. People genuinely believe this weather control bullshit, enough to risk their lives to essentially give the middle finger to someone who doesn’t exist.
