Brief tangent:
I once had a part-time fellow employee who was the bookstore’s former manager.
Very former.
She’d treated her employees so badly, the entire staff quit one day. They’d finally had enough of her BS, so they just walked right out and left her to her own devices, which made corporate very angry. Corporate actually barred her from ever again holding any mgmt position.
The then-manager when I started there knew all about her many transgressions, and he’d warned me to never ask her how to do something because she’d lie!
One afternoon they were playfully teasing each other - cracking wise & and cracking up. He’d been calling her a Wicked Witch, but then told her he worshipped her, and she laughed. “Oh? Do you also worship the ground I walk upon?”
He replied in the enthusiastic affirmative, adding, “I also worship the house that falls on you!”
