Marjorie Taylor Greene's boyfriend says people who made fun of him for eclipse warning are "going straight to hell"

Bold of you to assume he has ever read a Buy-bull. Or that he CAN read.

I think if you accept that Protestantism in the original sense (i.e. Lutheranism) isn’t heresy per se then the modern (i.e. postmedieval and still existing) denominations that show classical heretic traits are pretty much all American or derived from American churches. But I may be wrong, you clearly know much more about this.

The ghost of Lilly Kane
Sees no need to complain
Although there was so much she never tried
She took her own advice
And listed every vice
She’d like to test – and time is on her side

Yeah, I think for the type of person who views everything as a competition, there is no such thing as heaven. And life itself must be quite a bummer.

I’ll agree with this. But I know for myself, while I don’t really care about being the best, I definitely do about the opportunity to contribute something. A world where everything I do will be done better by someone else would not be much fun.

But if I’m the one who stops to help, the fact that someone else in the world can change a tire better than I can doesn’t matter. I’m still contributing because I’m the one who’s there and can help.
And for all the other stuff, enjoying the act and trying my best is enough for me. :woman_shrugging:

Eh, I am very well aware that somebody, somewhere is better than me at every damned thing I do. That’s just a given. My reason for being is just simply that I think the world is a better place because of what I do. Part of how I chose my specialty. Someone else could certainly do it better, but they are not here doing it. I am. It’s all for the best.

For sure. I’m just imagining the hypothetical given where there are masters at everything right there, all the time, forever. I can say I don’t care about being the best, but I can’t pretend that wouldn’t make everything feel pointless. Especially if there are no flat tires to fix and creativity is the only thing left to add.

Even in real life I prefer to work on things that seem relatively neglected, so I can maybe help some. Maybe it’s poor self-esteem to need that but it makes things feel meaningful. A world that you can’t make better does not.

It’s Heaven. If a flat tire is needed, the Lord will provide a flat tire.

Straight there? C’mon, let me stop for cocaine and beers on the way. It’ll just take a minute.

I don’t know, made-up problems to keep people busy seems less like heaven and more like The Amazing Digital Circus.

There’s lots of beer in hell. It’s all they let the Germans drink! Of course, it’s not German beer…
