The main reason it’s used as an expensive assassination device is because it’s so rare to have the resources to posses lethal quantities and looks like terminal cancer.

Nobody thought litvenenko SUDDENLY had cancer. It’s that if the acute toxicity (200x that of cyanide) misses you, the chronic tox will get you 10/10.
