"Nerds For Her" unites fandoms behind Hillary Clinton

Thank you for that. I sure know my place now. Why don’t I just shut up and not express my opinion about this or anything else because it doesn’t agree with yours?

If by “shrill” you mean I’m willing to voice my opinion, then you’re goddamn right I am.

Did I say that? Did I even imply it?

If you’re right, that’s even worse. Why in the hell should I feel inspired by Bernie Sanders, who would be considered a centrist in the rest of the civilized world? If Sanders is inspiring, what does that say about the rest of the political system in the US?

Not any job interview I’ve ever been on. Then again, I’m probably a whiny entitled Millennial who lives with my parents, so I’ve probably never been on a job interview, right?

I have never been on a job interview that had hundreds of millions of spectators who thought they had a say but really didn’t. We’re not voting for the President, we’re voting for people who vote for the President, and then those votes are aggregated by state (except ME and NE) in a winner-take-all fashion. However, if I’m just a spectator, why should anyone tell me what to do or think, and how to do it or think it?

Gary Johnson or Jill Stein are not going to win the election, but they can seriously throw a wrench into this thing. Third party support is around 10% this election, compared to a negligible ~1% in 2012. 10% is easily a big enough proportion to sway an election. Were you this dismissive of Nader voters in 2000? Are you still dismissive of them? Do you think it’s Nader’s fault Gore lost?

There are really only two possibilities regarding third parties in this election:

  • Third party votes won’t have any effect, or
  • A vote for a third party is a vote for [opponent]

So which one is it? Are third-party voters wasting their votes, or are we handing this election to Donald Trump?

This severely increased third party support is a sign of something, and it’s a sign of something big. Feel free to write it off or whatever, but I know you know it’s serious.

No. You didn’t just go there.

The “quality of those polled”? You mean to say you think you’re better than Joe Lunch Pail because you have a different political opinion?

Low information voters are still voters. Not a whole lot can change that. However, a good politician would make politics accessible to people who aren’t policy wonks, and who think that politicians don’t listen to them. Get people inspired, to use your words.

I agree with you on the media’s handling of matters. Things would have gone differently in the primaries had the media not tried to paint Sanders as a Communist rather than a Social Democrat.

Exactly how far do you want me to chase those goalposts?

He;s about as much of a Democrat as I am. He’s committed to the policies but not the party establishment. He’s an actual progressive, not just Rah Rah Team Blue. I really respect that, and I think more politicians should be like him in that way.
