New US Treasury report confirms that unions are good for everybody

I think a lot of it is the undermining companies casually do all the time. When a worker is talking to HR or their supervisor nobody can call out what gets said. For example, “Because of union minimums we have to over-pay under performers. That’s why we can’t pay you more.” And a lot of other, “we can’t do that because the union won’t let us.”

Yeah, I never got that myself because I think both places had pretty strong union presences(UPS especially)but in all fairness I only worked at that Safeway for like a week. I think the closest I ever got was at fedex which was non-union and the workers would say stuff like ‘thank god this ain’t a union job’ and the bosses would nod along. I’m sure if there was any sort of real unionizing effort in that place I would have gotten both barrels.

Requiring workers to negotiate individually is such a crap move by management; especially when they tell workers not to discuss their pay with other workers. :grimacing:

Meanwhile, here you can just look up everyone’s wages and net worth online… As an economic migrant to Norway, that is equally strange to me, but definitely the better of the two systems
