It’s frustrating to watch more talk an no action, but that is also what the judge needs to do at this point. The contempt powers of a judge are very powerful and have very few actual checks to prevent their abuse. Because of this judges are supposed to be very careful before they use them and make sure that they will be upheld by an appeals court beyond any question.
I’m fairly sure that at this point Judge Engoron is just gathering enough of a paper trail that no higher judge is going to look at the record and even think about overruling him.
