Off-duty cop drags kid into his yard, draws and fires gun

I’d like to make one thing perfectly clear here. No one is ever under any obligation to allow a cop to assault you. Everyone has the right to defend themselves from anyone who attacks them including cops. Yelling “I’m a cop” while attacking minors is not a reason to stop defending yourself or the minors nor is it sufficient in establishing the truth of that assertion. Anyone can yell that. Don’t endanger yourself just because you hear those words. In fact, I’d say his actions here should make anyone skeptical about his claim. After all, would a trained law enforcement professional be breaking the law like he was? Additionally, no one is ever required to obey an unlawful order. Further, one cannot be resisting arrest unless an arrestable offence has first taken place and the cop begins arrest procedures.
It seems to me that we have trained the public to automatically enter in to a passive compliance to any action from the police. In my view, this is dangerous. We now live in a nation where failure to automatically comply with any whim of a cop can get you jailed or worse. This is because the police have come to expect immediate compliance without question or reason. The way to put an end to that expectation and disabuse cops of such notions is to only comply with lawful orders instead of immediately dropping your defenses because of a badge or the claim of one.
