Off-duty cop drags kid into his yard, draws and fires gun

  1. All guns are always loaded.
  2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
  4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

It’s bad enough that civilians often ignore the cardinal rules of gun safety. A cop ignoring them is both a piss-poor excuse for a police officer and a hazard to himself and others (including his fellow cops, who are more likely than most to be in range when he’s waving around an loaded and un-safed pistol with his finger on the trigger. Because let’s be clear about one thing, guns don’t shoot themselves. Someone has to press the trigger. To do that their finger has to be on the trigger.
