Looks like it was shot on 35 mm film. The press release I found says it’s being remastered from the 35 mm prints, implying that it might be similar to Star Trek: TNG. TNG was shot on film but edited on tape. Pee Wee’s Playhouse is from the same era, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it was also edited on tape.
