Follow up…I started watching, too. Do you see the similarities in some of Star Trek: TNG’s stories? Hive-minds, space babies that grow at extreme rates, etc.

I was looking up why season 2 was so different. It turns out the second season of Space 1999 was produced by Fred Freiberger aka the producer of Star Trek Season 3. That likely explains at least some of the similarities.
There was definitely some general cross pollination of ideas in the main sci fi series as well…
