I really cannot see Manafort setting up, let alone executing, a cunning, carefully choreographed caper to escape from the Feds.

Who said it was to be choreographed by Manafort? The Trumper’s sure are The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight but the Russians have proved to have quite effective operational capacity.
