That’s unpossible. The greatness of the song is completely unrelated to the lyrics, since no one can understand them anyway, there is no “official” version of the lyrics, and Vedder tends to change them every time he sings it. Which makes sense since he didn’t really write the lyrics so much as make them up on the spot. None of which takes anything away from the song. It’s a great song.
