Off topic I guess but:
I find myself really annoyed by the offensive statement–I was just joking–I’m being censored dialectic this morning. There’s a world of humor out there; PewDiePie could have paid people $5 to talk about:
- Ducks — Did you know that the male duck has a corkscrew shaped penis? Now you do. Also, they’re assholes. No-one would have been offended by duck jokes; they might even have learned something.
- The Ford Pinto — A decade of ugly, unloved automotive incompetence. Pintos had a tendency to self-immolate when hit from behind at low speed. No-one would have been offended by Pinto humor.
- Comic Sans — Why does it exist? Couldn’t we have just not? Even people who love Comic Sans do so with quiet shame. Go on and roast it.
- Clouds — Okay, there’s nothing inherently funny about clouds, but there’s nothing offensive about them either. Have at it.
Instead, PewDiePie paid people $5 to talk about:
- Nazism
- Hitler
- The Holocaust
It isn’t difficult to find things to talk about that aren’t racist, misogynist, antisemitic, or otherwise offensive. If you go there anyway, and if you support other people who go there, then you yourself are racist, misogynistic, antisemitic and offensive. Either own it or stop doing it, but enough with the whinging and conservative snowflake victimology.
