Beyond the price of entry; the strongly implied de-emphasis of the optical drive seems likely to sting. Yes, for now, you can still buy one as an add-on(if you don’t mind the price of entry being $780); but that trajectory is not going to do the world’s supply of secondary market games any good at all; and historically that has been more or less the one bright spot in console game pricing. PC game resale is almost entirely dead; but PC game prices seem to be considerably less sticky than console game ones on the digital distribution side.
If you are looking for the cheapest possible way to play AAAs on day one none of that really matters; but if your tastes or patience range further than that the glorious diskless console future is likely to sting over and over.
