This is why I always stay one generation behind on my game consoles. The games are still “new to me” but can be had at a fraction of the price.
Besides, it’s harder and harder to see the improvements from one generation to the next. The PS2 was a huge upgrade from the original PlayStation because it could play DVDs and had radically improved graphics. The PS3 was a big upgrade over the PS2 because it had Blu-Ray and HD and wireless controllers. The PS4 was a moderate upgrade from the PS3 because… slightly better graphics and bigger hard drive, I guess? I still haven’t seen any compelling reason to upgrade to the PS5.
