Err, and Kim Davis was a public relations coup? Or the pedophile priests?
Vatican’s not particularly adept with PR and they have a lot of internal strife from people inside the Vatican who aren’t happy with how this Pope is doing things.
This was more along the lines of probably someone at the Vatican thought it would be a good idea to invite a candidate to a Vatican conference to speak. Without really asking the pope first. Nor nailing down how Sanders would be allowed to phrase things. And whoever his higher up didn’t make sure that happened either.
That’s almost not certainly accidental…
