Programmer pay and indent-style: tab-using coders earn less than space-using coders

Thanks for the link, it’s a pretty good analysis. If I’m following correctly then it sounds like a soft tab preference correlates with experience using source control and contributing to open source, which are probably better salary predictors. I’d go a bit further and speculate that it might be experience collaborating in larger teams in general that’s having a causal effect on tab preference, since that’s the sort of environment where one will fast get tired of inconsistent whitespace. Experience with, or an aptitude for, collaborative work will surely also have a causal effect on salary.

The diplomatic approach, then.
