I am profoundly sick of the “It’s just the internet!” defense for all sorts of crimes and harassment. Where do we bank? The internet. Where do we make plans with friends? The internet. Where do we meet romantic partners? The internet. Where do our children learn and socialize? Yep, the internet.
Law enforcement on both sides of the pond needs to come to terms with the online extension of our reality, but they only seem interested in doing so when the people involved are brown and might be Radical Moose Lambs.
