Rob Ford sued for jailhouse beating of his ex-brother-in-law

My point is: there are non-commercial and community stations that play far superior music, sans ads (or at least, without obnoxious screamy ads).

I’m from Australia and IMO the best two stations we have here (amongst many) are:

Government-funded JJJ (no ads, good taste in music, international guests):

Community-funded FBI (sponsor’s ads, but a heavy focus on local and emerging artists):

You can stream both from their websites internationally. If you’re gonna check it out thoroughly it’s worth listening to the weekly “genre” shows that they have for the latest in the particular genre you like. Me? I like:

2014 (new music show) http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/kingsmill/

HipHop show http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hiphop/

Short.Fast.Loud (punk and hardcore) http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/shortfastloud/

Soundlab (electronic/experimental) http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/soundlab/

Sunday Night Safran (news and interesting people… hosted by a jewish comedian/commentator & a catholic priest) http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/safran/

Between those stations and the tiny computer in my pocket that can torrent anything at a moments notice, I don’t see the need for commercial radio. It’s there, but it sucks.
