So, the scientists stated that the sediment they drilled down to is 100M years old. How did they determine that the organisms found therein are also 100M years old? Is it impossible for much younger microbes to squiggle their way down there? Any biologists or oceanographers out there who could help with these questions? :slightly_smiling_face:

Just wait until the arctic permafrost thaws - all that stuff lurking in the mud in Alaska and Canada.
