The difference is that in the UK the farmers are the only ones packing. Less chance of a 4-year-old dog owner shooting back.
Locally the preferred method of hunting feral pigs is with knives and with genuinely insane vicious monster dogs. (If any of my hunting neighbors are reading this: just kidding! Your dogs are sweet and lovely I’m sure when they’re not tearing 200 pound boars apart limb from limb or hurling themselves against your fence when the neighborhood children walk past your house and do you need some financial help in repairing the broken boards or bent chainlink because I’d be delighted to help out?)
