He didn’t have control over NASA hiring Von Braun, but he did compete hard to get into the program himself even knowing who was running it. More to the point he became friends with Von Braun, and there’s personal correspondence between the two where Von Braun helped Aldrin with a novel and they went on recreational scuba diving trips together. So Aldrin’s love of space exploration clearly outweighed any distain that he might have had towards Nazis. With this latest endorsement and praise for Musk being additional evidence of that.
