That’s not the adjective that would have occurred to me, honestly.
Solemn… somber… austere, even.
But as a man who not only survived and escaped slavery; but became one of the greatest abolitionists of the anti-slavery movement, it seems more likely that his perpetual morose look came from having endured and overcome unimaginable hardships…
So yeah, 45 will never even scratch the surface of looking so intense.
