Intense? I dunno but that portrait just says this guy has been through some serious stuff. Contrast this with Trump’s own perpetual scowl which looks like he’s just mad that his Trump Steak was undercooked.
ETA Apparently this seriousness in his photographs was intentional. He was also the most photographed person of the 1800s which I was not aware of until now
