There’s no mystery. Turnip & Co. see themselves as the “bad boys” of politics and get off on (their idea of) the wrong people being afraid of them. That’s why I hate when our side goes off on how dangerous they are. Everybody knows how dangerous they are. But banging that drum incessantly is not how to fight them; mockery is.
Put it this way: if this were the movie Grease, Turnip & Co would assume everyone sees them as Danny Zuko and the T-Birds. What we need to do is constantly remind people they’re a group who could be looked down on and intimidated by Eugene.
