My mother for a while cleaned rooms in a hotel and I had a room mate who was a hotel desk clerk like a year or two ago and they both said this is totally true. Cell phone chargers are the number one things left behind. But yeah, sexy stuff is super duper common.
In the hotels they worked in, they generally keep the non-sexy stuff for a month or so, then the staff takes what they want and the rest gets thrown away. If it’s something they’re sure the owner is going to miss and be concerned about and want to reclaim (prescription meds, eye glasses, wallets, fine jewelry, expensive stuff), they would often go ahead and call them about it. The sexy stuff gets immediately thrown away and they don’t call anyone about it. If you leave your porn, toys, condoms,lingerie, etc. behind when you check out, they’re gone.
