Swindon might be a bit of a shit hole, but it’s not actually that bad a place to live. Assuming you’re working, it’s big enough to have a reasonable amount to do and reasonable local services, but small enough to easily escape. Decent countryside nearby and Bristol, Oxford and London all fairly accessible. You can do far worse.
