Before I bought a house, I filled the 1040 long forms out by hand because I had student loan interest to deduct. It sucked. I looked again at doing taxes by hand for 2018, and quickly determined, nah, I’ll pay for the damned software. It’s only gotten worse.

It does… for most people, it’s just plain easier to use the software.
