I was thinking, “YOU KNOW … maybe this is NOT the best issue to run on in an election year”

but then I remembered

  • It’s NOT AN ELECTION YEAR

  • Ta-Nehisi Coates is NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT

  • He’s talking to CONGRESS, which IS the deliberative body that is supposed to figure this shit out
