Huxley’s problem was that he wanted to describe a dystopia whereas he described a society so well run by altruistic philosopher kings that even people who were miserable in that society could go off and choose the nicest place to be miserable in, along with other like minded people. Who wouldn’t want to live there? It’s the exact opposite of almost all other societies, which are run by greedy controlling bastards who ensure that most people are as badly off as can be got away with without actual revolution.
