In my state, it’s primarily economic, and only secondarily racial or gender demographics. The wealthy are voting Democrat, regardless of their own party affiliation or race or gender, of the middle class only the NRA ultra-extremists (all five of them!) are voting Republican now that the Christian fundies have bailed out, and of the poor only the white males are voting Republican. Since the poor are mostly not white males, well…
Split the state up by race or gender as you please, we stay blue.
