“The British empire was a globe-spanning criminal enterprise”
Cory, I’ve always admired you and still do, but I can think of no prominent intellectual less qualified to render sweeping judgments on the historical-moral utility of the British empire than you. Judging our ancestors by contemporary moral standards is easy. It’s also entirely unfair.
I would dearly love for you to write a non-fiction book that lays out your thinking on morality, law, economics, and politics in unambiguous terms. I have admired some of your fiction, but then…fiction is safe, isn’t it? You can always distance your reputation from a work of fiction because, after all, “it’s just a yarn.”
Thanks for reading my comment,.
