It would go right along with IPCC and pretty much all the other models being way, way too optimistic. I’m kinda expecting the 2100 outlook to arrive by 2040 or so, but that might be optimistic too.

Huh
 two out of two.
Can confirm.

Also: immigrant families will press their kids to assimilate, not fight back, not make trouble, not complain, and make good grades no matter the social climate in school or out of it. Later, these same immigrant families will question why their kids have seemingly abandoned the values, culture and language of origin of their families.

“Not-for-profit” my ass. This is playing out here as well, with Augusta, Sentara and UVA duking it out over control in the Valley. Augusta bought the biggest OB/GYN provider in Hburg, then closed their peds ward to make more room for L&D, then found they still can’t handle the volume and are now pretty much half-assing it. Sentara likewise closed peds to focus on more profitable specialties. Which, to be fair, could be any of them. Pediatrics does not generate profits anywhere. UVA just has the deepest pockets, but is dealing with an internal rebellion after hiring a CEO who is just a corrupt asshole. As I have said elsewhere, healthcare is collapsing everywhere, and profit motive is most to blame, although the botched covid mess certainly played a big role as well. 5 years to retirement, folks. Gotta hang on 5 years.

Honestly most embryos are pretty dumb. Not that IQ is a great measurement, but I wish them luck finding one that even understands the questions on the test.

A) IQ is a useless number, signifying nothing.

B) Intellectual ability (as opposed to IQ) is mega-multifactorial, not subject to any simple genetic screening test, but based on interactions between far too many genetic elements, societal factors, environmental influences and other stuff we do not understand to take into account.

C) “A fool and their money are soon parted.”

Start out saying you want to make humans “better” and then try to figure out better how? Better at what? Having both lungs and gills could soon be a real advantage, for instance. Knees that are less prone to breakdowns too.
Alas, these idjits think IQ and certain parameters of appearance are what’s important.

D) now consider it from the POV of the child so selected. Does anyone think they won’t grow up knowing exactly how much their parents paid for them to be a genius? Can you imagine the pressure? Now imagine their first B in school.
