The electorate should weed out those unsuited for office and those that call for political violence but when the electorate gets brainwashed, manipulated, worked up with outright lies and half-baked conspiracy theories in a media bubble and lacks the will or desire to critically think things through the system breakdowns and you get your thuggish dictator and those that willfully follow orders.
