As someone who just finished a bag of salmiak licorice…
Foul is nicer than what I have heard some people call 
But if you like black licorice you should really try it. It’s addictive. There is a range of saltiness (its ammonium not sodium chloride so the taste is “unique”) and some of the more extreme ones are an aquired tast among even afficianados. If you can find a good dutch shop there are plenty of milder varieties that offer just a little bit of interest over regular licorice.
Once you get hooked on the intro stuff we can start talking about the good stuff
