Tobacco giant Philip Morris is quietly funding an "anti-smoking" foundation offering $1 billion in "grants" to public health leaders

Bingo… AND (given the ‘international’ flavor of the list) a possible way into other markets with those delivery systems.

I Know they’re required to contribute to or fund anti-smoking programs, ad campaigns, quit programs, And research in the US.

Don’t know for sure if this is part of that. Bit why wouldn’t it be if it could check that box for them.

Imagine if, over the past 40 years, they’d spent half as much money campaigning and lobbying to legalise marijuana instead of fighting a rearguard on tobacco.

The same applies to the fossil fuel industry - at root they sell energy, not hydrocarbons. And people want energy. Renewables should be an easy sell, but instead they’ve hitched their wagon to a dying star and, to mix several more metaphors, seem keen to go down with that ship come hell or high water.

The military industrial congressional complex are far more “accomplished” liars. Unlike the tobacco industry, they still have the vast majority of USA under their control.
