I don’t mind so much a thick phone - as a matter of fact the current ones feel too thin.
There may be case uses for a foldable phone, and even if this triple one seems exagerate there is an advantage over the double ones: when closed you get a fully usable normal phone with a full main screen on the front, instead of a tiny auxiliary screen for notifications only. You can use it normally when closed and open it to use it as a tablet.
What I would really like to know is if they managed to solve the problem of the fragility of the hinges and the screen degradation on them. That is what would make the difference between a premium (although niche) prototype product and another white elephant.
And if they manage to bring down the price while keeping said quality I suspect a lot of other manufacturers will feel that thewy have to follow.
